Cloud Computing Services

Business transactions and processes have been taken to a new level by the Internet. Cloud computing is a computing paradigm in which tasks are assigned to a combination of connections, software and services accessed over the network. This network of servers and connections is collectively known as "the cloud." Users have the ability to access supercomputer-level power from any device such as a thin client, a BlackBerry, a desktop, laptop or any mobile device yet to be introduced and have access to resources as they need them without any prior commitments.

Dev2Source is in the forefront of deploying cloud computing for its clients. Cloud computing requires the use of software that can divide and distribute components of a program over thousands of computers. New advances in processors, virtualization technology, disk storage, broadband Internet access and fast, inexpensive servers to quickly serve sophisticated software to thousands of users together with the development of data centers that house hundreds or thousands of computers have all combined to make cloud computing a compelling paradigm.

Cloud computing allows users and companies to pay for and use the services and storage that they need, when they need them and, as wireless broadband connection options grow, where they need them. Customers can be billed based upon server utilization, processing power used or bandwidth consumed. As a result, cloud computing has the potential to transform the software industry entirely, as applications are purchased, licensed and run over the network instead of a user's desktop. All available resources are managed remotely.

Google (GOOG), is considered for all intensive purposes the world's largest user of this concept for its search engine capabilities. Amazon.com (AMZN) recently broadened access for software developers to its "Elastic Compute Cloud" service, which lets small software companies pay for processing power streamed from Amazon's data centers.
In addition, both IBM (IBM), with its Blue Cloud initiative, and Yahoo! (YHOO) recently announced plans to tap cloud computing technologies.
